The City of Tukwila is seeking Seasonal Maintenance Workers to help spruce up the City in preparation and throughout the summer. We will be showcasing our streets and parks for visitors arriving for the international soccer tournament coming to Seattle and we need more hands!

• This is a seasonal/temporary position not eligible for health benefits or retirement but provides an excellent entry point into local government service.
• The expected duration is six months but could be spread out over a longer period, depending on candidate and employer needs.
• Total hours may not exceed 1040 hours in a 12-month period.
• The work schedule is expected to be 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on a 4-10 schedule and could include weekends. Exact hours may vary depending upon operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of skilled activities in maintaining and repairing City infrastructures, to include roads, rights of way, and easements. Duties may include repairing road surfaces and shoulders; and installing and maintaining pavement markings.
• Performs maintenance and safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems requiring skilled knowledge to determine need for repair and to identify problems.
• Responds to inquiries, complaints, and service requests to include marking location of lines, graffiti, potholes, and right of way issues.
• Performs site maintenance activities such as applying pesticides; mowing, trimming, pruning, removing, and planting vegetation; painting; and litter control.
• Direct and controls traffic, to include placing traffic cones and signs; flagging traffic; and closing lanes and streets.
• Responds to emergency events and situations, to include snow, ice, power outages, and flooding.

Education, Experience and Other Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
(A) Must possess a valid Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
(B) Must be a minimum of 18 years old
(C) Must be able to work with limited supervision

(A) Flagging certification card
(B) CPR/First Aid Card
