Warren R. LaMont, 84, of Pecatonica, IL passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born February 25, 1939 in Oregon, Illinois to Marvin and Marie (Ippen) LaMont. He graduated from Rochelle High School in 1956 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1958. Member of the Teamsters Retired Club, a Eugene J. Barloga Pecatonica American Legion Post #197 and Knights of Columbus 4th degree. He retired June of 1996, as a professional truck driver for over 31 years and never had an accident. He was very active in his religious life. Served at Saint Mary Catholic Church for over 45 years. Warren and his wife took communion to shut-ins for several years. He was a member of the first class of Permanent Deacons on May 17, 1975. Warren also had a passion for his family. They spent nearly 50 years enjoying their summers on Crystal Lake Wisconsin, camping, boating, fishing and cheering on the Bears and the Cubs. On April 8, 1961 he married Regene (Jeannie) Haschke, the love of his life for 62 years. He survived by his wife, Jeannie and sister Jan (Lyle) Schryver, and three children: son, Greg (Janeen Abdo) LaMont; daughters Pam (Matt) Holmquist, Trina (Rick Strohecker) Leshner; 8 grandchildren Tyler (Joanna) LaMont, Jessika (Jason) Voss, Chelsea (Al) Gomez, Jordan Smallwood, E.J. (Kelsey) Kane, Zach Holmquist, Tiffany Leschner, Cody Leschner Savanah Leschner; 17 great grandchildren with number 18 on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, four sisters Barbara Remmers, Beverly Meinert, Dawn Newman, infant sister Sandra LaMont; three brothers Vernon LaMont, Lynn LaMont and Wayne LaMont. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at McCorkle Funeral Home-Pecatonica Chapel, 203 W. 5th St. in Pecatonica, IL with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 126 W. 5th St. in Pecatonica, Illinois with Rev. Dennis Morrissy officiating. Burial will be in Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to St Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Shriners Children’s Chicago, Attn: Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394. Family wishes to thank the staff at Generations at Neighbors, Serenity Hospice and Visiting Angels for all their tender, loving care given to Warren.
