DUMAS, Roger Edmond June 4, 1932 – January 8, 2016 Roger passed away in peace surrounded by his family in Sebastopol, CA the morning of Friday- January the 8th, 2016. He was 83. The cause of his death was attributed to complications from pneumonia. Roger was one of five brothers born in Paterson, NJ to Stuart and Alice Dumas. Roger was an avid athlete who excelled in baseball, cross country and football. After high school he proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 as a petty officer in the Seabees. He was also appointed to serve on President Truman’s yacht – the USS Williamsburg. Roger married Catherine Rader in 1956 and had two sons, Greg and Brian. He worked for the City of Paterson as a fire captain from 1960 to 1989. In retirement Roger led a very active life. His hobbies were numerous including being an accomplished age group triathlete, runner, whitewater canoeist and competitive horse shoe player. He also enjoyed beekeeping, fishing, and loved to cook. Roger also had a passion for acting and singing. He took on numerous roles in off Broadway musicals and plays. Including small parts in TV programs including Law & Order and NYPD Blue. Roger also went back to school and attained a PhD in holistic nutrition. Roger later married again to Bonnie Casper of Sea Girt N.J. and relocated with her to Costa Rica for 15 years. In 2012 Roger moved back to the U.S. and settled in Santa Rosa CA. to be closer to his family. He will always be remembered as a very outgoing, accomplished and independent individual, whom dearly loved his family. Roger is survived by his two sons, Greg and Brian, and their wives, Stacy and Lorraine; his brother, Danny; current and former spouses, Bonnie Casper and Catherine Rader; and his grandchildren, Austin, Brad, Cheyenne, Roger and Ruben.
