Joseph G. Hall, 76, of Chardon, passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2026. Born on November 12, 1949, in Chardon, Ohio, he was the only son of the late Lester G. Hall and Rose Marie (Kral) Hall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Hall-Stanison.
Joe proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam War. He served as a 2nd Class Seabee (MCB4D) and was stationed with the 869 Construction Mobile Unit as an equipment operator and builder in the Construction Battalion and the Fighting 40 Construction Battalion. He earned several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Expert Marksman Award.
Following his military service, Joe worked as a lineman for the Chardon phone company for 32 years before retiring.
Joe had a deep love for his Harley-Davidson, spending time working at the market with Larry and Lisa Hill, and enjoying his hobbies, including guns. He especially cherished his dog, Sadie May, who he considered his baby.
Above all, Joe absolutely loved his grandchildren: Nick, Bella, Landon, Ashlyn, Harper, Lola, Holden, and Charlie.
He will be deeply missed by those left to cherish his memory, including his wife, Dinah (Zirkle) Hall; his sister Alice Hall, his daughters, Kelly Bush and Toni (Brett) Erzen; his stepchildren, Kelley Jo (Jon) and Chuck (Shannon); along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and their families.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on May 1, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the VFW, 752 Chardon Road, Chardon, Ohio 44024. VFW Color Guard Service to begin at 4:30 PM.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
