Mr. Vernon W. Haselswerdt

HASELSWERDT, Vernon W., Jr. Son of Dutch Haselswerdt of Willits and Jennie Frey Haselswerdt, originally of Kenwood, died January 9, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was 78. Vern was born and raised in Willits. He was a World War II Navy veteran, seeing action in the Pacific as a frogman with the Seabees. He returned to Willits where he married and raised a family. He worked with his father and brother for many years in their plumbing, heating and sheet metal business. He was involved in the development of the original Microphor process and later became Vice President of Microphor, Inc., whence he retired. He enjoyed family, old friends, hunting, sports, cooking, poker, home-improvement projects and a good martini. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vivian, and their two sons, Michael of Buffalo, NY; and Mark of Faridabad, India, and his brother, Dick Haselswerdt of Willits. In addition, he leaves 5 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several cousins in the Santa Rosa area. At Vern’s request, there will be no service. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to the Willits Senior Center.
