Ken Warling passed away July 6th at the Pickering House Hospice, Lancaster, OH. Born on Labor Day, 1932, the oldest child of Earl and Wanda Warling, Ken grew up in Miami County, Ohio. Following high school, Ken joined the Navy where he was part of the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion aka the Seabees and worked on construction projects overseas. Upon returning to civilian life, Ken completed his undergraduate studies at Wilmington College and graduate school at The Ohio State University. Ken had a career spanning several decades as a teacher and school administrator and served as Superintendent of schools at Fairfield Union Local Schools, Logan City Schools, Urbana City Schools and Fairfield County Schools.
Preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, several siblings, one grandson and good friend Brenda Loveless, Ken is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 73(almost 74) years, Roxanne Hufford Warling, sisters Ann Bugnon and Vickie Derry and brother Neal Warling, children Marc Paul (Jamie) of Columbus, Eric Robert (Kathy) of Lancaster, Nancy Michelle of St. Paul MN and Natalie Noelle of Columbus, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a few great great grandchildren and was known as “Uncle Kenny” to many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will take place on July 18 at 11am at Christ United Methodist Church 700 S. Main Street, Baltimore OH with a meal to follow. Burial will take place on Saturday July 11th at 1:00pm at the Casstown Cemetery, Casstown OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fairhope Hospice, Lancaster OH, Fairhopehospice.org.
