John J. Miller, III, 80, of Woonsocket, RI died July 13, 2026 in the HopeHealth Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence surrounded, by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Diane (Gallant) Miller, to whom he was married 56 years. Born in Waterloo, IA, he was the son of the late John Miller, Jr. and the late Carol (Ragsdale) Miller.
John served in the Navy with the Seabees. He was stationed in Grand Turk Island, and later in Davisville, RI, where he met his wife before deploying to Vietnam in 1968. John later served over 20 years in the Army National Guard. He spent most of his career in sales at Lewis Boyle before retiring from the VA Hospital in Providence. John enjoyed wood carving, watching TV, golfing, and being the #1 sports fan to his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Diane, he leaves his daughters, Lia Gravier and her husband, Joe, of Bronxville, NY and Sarah Gifford and her husband, Joseph of Blackstone; two sisters, Jan Kneeland and her husband John and Mary Elgin and her husband David, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; nine grandchildren, Richard, Alex and his wife, Juliana, Jacques, Olivia, Luc, Jules, Ella, Emilie and Wyatt; a great grandson, Pedro, and one great grandchild on the way.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 20, 2026 at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Church 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. Calling hours are Sunday from 1-3 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket.
