Robert ‘Bob’ John Dacy

Robert “Bob” John Dacy, 80, of Harvard, Illinois, passed away on June 23, 2026, in Janesville, Wisconsin, surrounded by family. He was born on May 11, 1946, in Woodstock, Illinois, to John and Elsie (nee Reese) Dacy. Bob was a proud veteran who served two tours in Vietnam as a United States Navy Seabee.
Growing up on his parents’ airport in Harvard, Illinois, he became a pilot and enjoyed flying recreationally.
He retired from Union Special in Huntley, IL, after more than 40 years, and continued working with both Greenwood and Hebron Townships for many years after that.
Bob enjoyed working on (or affectionately, “puttering”) lawnmowers and tractors in his spare time. He was an avid lifelong Green Bay Packer fan.
The most important part of his life was his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Whether cheering in the stands of a softball game, attending a band concert, going to the movies, or just getting ice cream, his pride, support, and love were unconditional.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Christine (Phil) Shafer of LaFollette, TN, Carrie (Terry Guynes) Manke of Woodstock, IL; grandchildren, Madisyn, Bryce, and Mykenzie Selof; great-grandson, Atlas Draven; brothers, David Dacy and Phil (Julia) Dacy; sisters, Susan Dacy and Sheryl (Steve Watts) Dacy; an aunt, Trudy Walter; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie Dacy; the mother of his children, Olga Dacy; and a brother, Daniel Dacy.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Captain James A. Lovell VA in North Chicago and Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, Wisconsin, for their care and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held at the Harvard Moose, 22500 Illinois Route 173, Harvard, IL, 60033 on July 30 from 2 to 6 PM. A military honor ceremony will take place at 2:30 PM.
