Mr. David Earl Jonas
David Earl Jonas, of Lafayette, Colorado, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 14, 2026. He was 78 years old. David was born in Aurora, Colorado at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center on March 31, 1948, to the late Robert F. and Dorothy J. (Dobbs) Jonas.
Davis grew up in Aurora, Westminster, Denver and Thornton and attended Mapleton High School. He later joined the United States Navy. David served in Vietnam as a Seabee. After his Honorable Discharge from military service, David settled in Thornton area for most of his adult life.
His passions were fishing, restoring his 1927 Chevy coupe, and his close friends. David’s other interests included birds, pinball, and science fiction.
David is survived by his sister, Patricia Beer; brothers, Robert (Maria Luiza) Jonas, Gary Jonas, Larry (Jannelle) Jonas and Criss Jonas; nieces, Brandi Beer, Alexandra Haller and Casandra May.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Danny.
A graveside service will be held 1pm, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Fort Logan National Cemetery. The United States Navy will perform military honors.
