Mr. Michael E. Whitson
Michael E. Whitson, 77, of Cape Girardeau, passed away on October 8, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on February 2, 1949, to the late Stanley and Lorena (Dalton) Whitson. He married Patricia (Carrel) Whitson on May 23, 2008, in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Michael was a veteran who served with the Navy Seabees in Vietnam. He also served as past president of VFW Post 3416 in Wappapello, Missouri. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.
He was survived by his wife, Patricia Whitson; Daughter, Tina Kolwyck; Grandchildren, Chase Kolwyck and Jimmy Whitson; stepchildren, Kelly (Mark) Tyberendt; step-granddaughter, Isabella Scire; and sister, Jeanie (John) Haertling; nieces and nephews, Jeanie (Joel) Rhodes, Alex Bess-Rhodes, Olivia Bess-Rhodes, and Ella Rhodes.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Lorena Whitson, and his siblings, Bill Whitson and Barbara Shock.
Burial will be on October 19, 2026 at 11:00 am at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
