HIRT, RONALD & MARJORIE Ronald Allen Hirt, age 88, passed away at Metro Health on Sunday, November 22 2020. He was born in Grand Rapids on January 7 1932 to Christian Paulus and Marinda Bell (Boals) Hirt. Marjorie Louise, age 87 passed away on November 27 2020 at Metro Health. She was born in Grand Rapids on June 18 1933 to Chester Arthur & Merna J (Witter) Borden. They were graduates of South High School in 1951. Ron was in the Marines and retired from the Naval Reserve in 1989. He also retired from Haworth in 1994. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Marjorie retired from Diocesan Publications in 1998. Surviving are their sons and their families, Micheal & Marsha (Jenny), Thomas & Nancy (John & Sarah), Richard & Susan (Randy & Stacey, Laura & Dustin & Nate) and several great grandchildren. Ron is survived by his a brother, Robert Hirt; and a sister, Marjorie (Midge) Leale. Marj is survived by her sister, Sarah Jane (Sally) & Gary VandenElst; many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters -in- law, Al & Joann Butler, Ken Hirt, PFC Bill Hirt (KIA WWII), Paul (Lt Col USMC Ret) & Patty Hirt, Doyle & Ethel Hirt ,and June Hirt. Marj was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas Borden. They were also preceded in death by their nieces and nephews, Barb Delano and Ken Butler, Cindy Chertos, Dennis & Bill Hirt and Mark VandenElst. A Celebration of Life for Ron & Marj will be held in the spring, with final interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In memory of Ron and Marj contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago. The family would like thank The Laurels of Hudsonville for their compassionate care of Ron last couple years and appreciation to the staff at Metro Health and Faith Hospice for the care our parents received.
