Final Salute

April 18, 1926 – May 6, 2023

Eugene Edward Olszewski born April 18, 1926, to Sophia Bower and Eugene Bernard Olszewski, passed away at 2:20am, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Healthwin Specialized Care. On June 3, 1950, he married Marjorie Bromley in South Bend, IN. They had four children, John, Sandra, Jeffrey, and Debra. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie and son, John.

In 1980, he met the second love of his life Dorothy Sapusek. They were together for more than 30 years before she passed away in 2015.

Gene was a great father and grandfather. He was an avid woodworker, loved gardening and was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, Chain O Lakes Country Club and Bowlers Country Club. He retired from RACO after 40 years of service.

Gene was a military veteran who served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was awarded the bronze star.

He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 11am on Friday, May 12, 2023, in Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628 where family and friends may begin to gather at 10am. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Highland Cemetery.
