Mr. Robert Penn

Date of birth 08/31/1928
Date of passing 10/07/2023

Robert “Bob” L. Penn, 95, was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, October 7th, 2023.
Bob was born the youngest of three children to Leonard and Anna Penn on August 31, 1928. Bob started working with his father, at L.D. Penn & Son Trucking, at the young age of 14. Bob was proud of being one of the youngest licensed drivers in Ohio, at the age of 14. Bob was always a hard worker, buying his own (brand new) light blue 1949 Oldsmobile convertible. He could be found driving around the Westside of Columbus.
After attending West High School, he met the love of his life, Florence C. Truxall, at the Hilltop Swim Club pool. While dating Florence, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees and fought in the Korean War.
Upon returning home, he married Florence on July 12, 1952. He often said, his greatest accomplishment was marrying Florence. They went on to have four daughters. They especially enjoyed boating and water skiing as a family. After the retirement of his father, Bob became the owner-operator of L.D. Penn & Son Trucking. When Bob retired, he and Florence moved to Florida.
Bob had many passions. He loved God and reading his Bible daily, as his faith was an integral part of his life. They were lifelong members of Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio and Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, Florida. Another passion of his was the trucking business and driving. Bob and Florence visited 49 of the 50 states in their motorhome (only missing Hawaii because he couldn’t drive there). Bob was an avid football fan, especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Florida Gators. Bob enjoyed spending some of his last years at Stone Oak Retirement Community in Hilliard, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 63 years, Florence C. Penn. His parents Leonard Penn and Anna Temple Penn, his brother Billy Penn, his sister Katherine Dean, and three great grandchildren.
Survived by daughters, Janet Bulen, Polly (Michael) Russolillo, Diane McConaha (John Church), and Laura (Mark) Hunt. Grandchildren, Jennifer, Jordan, Justin, Jinger, Ashley, Julie, Alison, Jillian, Ryann, Zachary, Derek, and Colton. Numerous great grandchildren, family, and friends. Family and friends may call
Wednesday, October 11 from 5:30-8pm at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME of HILLIARD, 5471 Frazell Rd. Private graveside burial at Dublin Cemetery.
