Boehm, Sr., Lawrence J.
December 6, 2020. Larry was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 24, 1926 to George and Anna Boehm (nee Combs). At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was subsequently attached to the 1st Marine Division as a Seabee for the invasion of Peleliu, the battle for which suffered the highest casualty rate of any amphibious assault in American military history. After being honorably discharged, Larry returned home and married his childhood sweetheart Antoinette (nee Potolsky). In 1979, he joined the St. Louis City Fire Department where he served for 30 years. After Antoinette’s death in 1997, Larry reconnected with a childhood friend and neighbor, Rose Marie (nee Helmkamp), with whom he enjoyed a loving marriage until her death in 2016. Besides spending time with his family, Larry enjoyed playing scrabble and poker with a cold beer and a good cigar! He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
Larry was preceded in death by his son Thomas C. Boehm and his beloved granddaughter Victoria “Vikki” Harty. He is survived by his son Lawrence (Sue) J. Boehm, Jr., granddaughter Michelle (Pat) Boehm O’Neal, and 6 great-grandchildren Matt Harty, Melody Harty, Connor O’Neal, Sam O’Neal, Victoria O’Neal and Spencer O’Neal.
