Michael John Anderson, 76, of Clyde died Friday, January 28, 2022, in an Abilene hospital. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.
Michael was born January 28, 1946, in Clear Lake, Iowa to Raymond and Mattie Irene (Young) Anderson. He attended school in Nora Springs and Rock Falls, Iowa. He married Mae Louise Bourque in Nora Springs, Iowa on September 14, 1969.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Support Equipment Technician Petty Officer 1st Class. During his service in the Navy, he received the National Defense Medal with one Bronze Star, Vietnamese Service Medal with three Stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Citation (Gallantry Cross). M-16 Sharpshooter Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment with two Bronze Stars and the Navy Expeditionary Medal.
Michael is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mae Louise Anderson of Clyde; son, Michael John Anderson, II and wife Ashlea of Andrews; daughter, Michelle L. Anderson of Clyde; five grandchildren, Michael John Anderson, III and wife Jayme Alyson Marie Anderson, Christen Mae Anderson, Ashtyn Rylie Lard, Kaitlyn Skye Lard and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Roger Anderson; sister, Colleen Koebrick; nephew, Jeremy Chatfield; three sisters-in-law, Ann, Gladys and Grace Anderson and brother-in-law, Ray Koebrick.
