New London – Arthur “Tootsie” Petrini, 96, of New London, entered eternal life on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.

He was born Dec. 15, 1918, in New London, the son of the late Rafael and Giovanni (Orazi) Petrini.

Mr. Petrini was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Sea Bees.

He was united in marriage to the former Alice Luzi on Nov. 12, 1949 in New London, Mrs. Petrini predeceased him.

Mr. Petrini worked for the U.S. Postal Service in New London, retiring in 1976. He had fond memories of all the people he delivered mail to and made many friends along the way.

Mr. Petrini was a member of the Italian Dramatic Club. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by four children and their spouses, Janice and Robert DelPaine, Joyce and George Overton, Kenneth and Sara Petrini and Arthur and Sylvia Petrini; a brother, Nevio Petrini; seven grandchildren, Robert and Kristen Delpaine, Alyson and John Woznicki, Anthony DelPaine, Corey and Jesse Petrini, Casey and Jessica Overton, and Jason and Jill Overton; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predecreased by three brothers, Spartaco, Lebro and Bruno Petrini.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Impellitteri-Malia Fureral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. Interment to follow in Jordan Cemetery with military honors.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Carlos Mena-Hurtado and his staff and the Cardiac Care Unit (5-2) at Yale-New Haven Hospital for the compassion and care they provided.
