OAKHURST — Thomas (Mr. “Can Do”) Milmoe, of Oakhurst, Ocean Township, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 2, 2026 with his beloved family by his side after a brief illness of pancreatic cancer. Tom, the 7th of 8 children, was born in Point Pleasant and resided in Spring Lake before moving to Deal in 1963.
He graduated from Deal School and Asbury Park High School and went on to Miami Dade Jr. College in Florida before entering the U.S. Navy where he spent three years with the Seabees Construction Battalion during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved serving his Country and did so honorably and proudly.
Tom met his future wife, Paula Steets, married in 1982 (TTF) and welcomed son, Alexander (AJ) and daughter, Tara.
Tom was owner and operator of “Can Do” Disposal and Demolition from 1983 until his retirement. He was a proud member and commander (13 years) of the Seabees Veterans of
America Island XI (Red Bank), a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 12, VFW Post No. 2179 (Middletown), VFW Post No. 2226 (Oakhurst) and American Legion (Neptune).
Tom was an avid music lover and always had a song in his heart and on his lips. He livened up every Sunday morning singing to the kids while getting ready for church. He enjoyed many pool parties with his Doo Wops and Oldies music and of course, Elvis! No one has a larger 45, 78, 8 track, cassette or CD music collection than Tommy Milmoe! He could name that song, the flip side song, the artist, the date it came out and the record label! His greatest pleasure was his kids, teaching them the love of music.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander Milmoe and Florence (Zalonis) Milmoe; brothers, Joseph Milmoe and Richard Milmoe; sisters, Geraldine Curley and Kathleen McCann.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Paula Milmoe; son, AJ and partner, Angela Celeste of Wayside, and daughter, Tara and partner, Kevin Malick of Point Pleasant. He also leaves behind his sister, Gail Farley and brother, Bernard Milmoe both of California, and sister, Anita Owens, of Pennsylvania along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who he loved playing with.
Visitation will be held at Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road in Oakhurst, Ocean Township on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch Friday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. Cremation and interment will be private at the Brigadier General Doyle Cemetery Arneytown at a later date.
