Final Salute

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Alan Reynolds, who departed this life on December 26th, 2025, at the age of 77. His passing was sudden and unexpected, and the shock of this loss has left his family and loved ones heartbroken beyond words.

Michael was born in Vancouver, WA to Vernon and Hazel Reynolds on December 9th, 1948. Michael attended Harney Elementary, Mcloughlin Middle School and graduated in 1967 from Hudson’s Bay High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy for 4 years as a Seabee. He served in the Vietnam War, and his last tour was in Adak, Alaska. During his time in Adak, he began writing to a girl in Vancouver, who later became his loving wife in June of 1972. He worked for Local #36 Insulators based in Portland, Oregon and retired from the trade.

Michael was blessed with two daughters; Shelly was born in June of 1974 and Amanda in December of 1976. During this time, he dedicated his life to his family and friends. Michael lived a very simple life, finding value in family traditions and making memories. He enjoyed road trips, the beach, and exploring new places for camping. At a young age, Michael found a passion for the beach, which was a constant throughout his entire life. He loved walking the shoreline for hours, looking for agates, shells, and whatever else the ocean brought ashore. Coaching softball, attending 4-H events, fishing, square dancing, volunteering at the 40 et 8, spending time at the park with his walking “gang”, wood working, and being a master at holiday decorating were some of his favorite past times. He found relaxation in gardening and maintaining an immaculate yard. Michael took pride in his meticulous carpentry skills, which he used to create wood working masterpieces for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosemarie Diane; daughters Shelly (Derek), Amanda (Michael); granddaughter Leah; brother Bill; and sisters Laverne and Carolyn (Mark), as well as many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel & Vernon Reynolds; grandson Zacharia Matz.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, starting at 11:00am at the
40 et 8 located at 2809 NE 78th St. Vancouver, WA. Please wear red, white, or blue in honor of Mike.
