Capt Dick Frazier, USN, retired, passed August 10, 2021 in Escondido, CA. He is survived by his wife Judy, three children; David, Jennifer, and Peter. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; Cassandra Meier; Jack, Cole and Tate Frazier; and two great-grand children, Emryn and Everette Meier.Dick was born in a North Carolina farmhouse to Francis and Mary Frazier. A chance trip as a boy to New York City inspired him to bootstrap his way to a Civil Engineering degree from Duke University and join the Navy. It was during his first station with the Navy Seabees in Port Hueneme, CA where he met his wife of 59 years. Following their engagement, he promptly left for a 1-year assignment to Byrd Station in Antarctica. Returning from that long cold year at the south pole, Judy and Dick started a family and continued their 26 year Navy journey with stops in Tennessee, Louisiana, California, Guam, Vietnam, Annapolis, Spain and finally back to California. Retiring from the Navy in 1986 he continued his career in the private sector working on notable projects including the San Diego Convention Center and eventually settled into true retirement in Boulder, CO and then San Diego.Always smiling and welcoming to his friends and neighbors, he was a loving husband and father and will truly be missed.Services will be held at 2:00pm, September 24, 2021 at Miramar National Cemetery.The family suggests sending memorial contributions to the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association at https://seabee.org.
