Final Salute

Mike Michael passed away at Paradise Valley Estates on Jan. 8, 2012. He was born in Annapolis, Md., the son of Howard and Marcelle (Mortier) Michael.

He earned his Civil Engineering degree in two and a half years, and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy in 1946. He served for 26 years and retired as a Commander in Hawaii. In his second career, he worked as a Land Manager for Kamehameha Schools. After his second retirement, he served on the Board of the Institute of Human Services before moving to California in 1997. Mike was active at Paradise Valley Estates and served as president of the resident council.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne and just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Mike is also survived by two sons, Larry, a chef instructor and Peter, a systems engineer; and 5 grandchildren, Duncan (17), Zeke (16), Isaac (15), Zoe (14) and Dylan (14).

A Memorial Service will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Paradise Valley Estates in the multipurpose room, 2800 Estates Drive, Fairfield.
