Final Salute

Kenneth Ray Reim, 81, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, with his daughter by his side.

Ken was born and raised in Goshen, Indiana, and graduated from Goshen High School in 1963. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. Following college, Ken proudly served four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees, completing two tours in Vietnam. He continued his military service in the Navy Reserve until his retirement, ultimately attaining the rank of Commander.

His years in Vietnam were a pivotal part of Ken’s life. During his service, he was exposed to Agent Orange and later battled several rare forms of lymphoma attributed to his Vietnam service.

After his active-duty military service, Ken earned a master’s degree in Business from Indiana University. He married his beloved wife, Kathryn (Kathy), whom he met through his sister, Marcia. Together, they raised their family in Phoenix, Arizona, and then in Mt. Kisco, New York. Ken built a successful career as a senior financial analyst, working for Arizona Public Service (APS) in Phoenix and later for the New York Power Authority. He retired in 2006.

Ken was a devoted member of Shores Methodist Church and was actively involved in his community. He was a life member of the Military Officers Association of America, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He especially valued serving others and helping with his church.

An inquisitive and adventurous man, Ken had many interests throughout his life. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed spending time on his sailboat, as well as kayaking and visiting with friends. In his later years, he took up learning to play the piano and remained an avid reader, with a particular interest in books about science and mathematics. Above all, Ken cherished his family, friendships, faith, and opportunities to continue learning.

Ken is survived by his wife, Kathryn Reim; his children, Kevin Reim and Karyn Reim; his sister, Marcia Copeland (John); and his granddaughters Sienna Reim and Madison Reim. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Reim; his brother, Tom Reim; and his parents, Ray and Eloise Reim.

A memorial service celebrating Kenneth’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at St. Augustine Shores United Methodist Church.
