Douglas Paul Oesterle Sr., 59, of Saucier, died Monday, August 22, 2016 in Jackson.

Douglas was born on August 11, 1957 in Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from North Eastern High School in 1975 where he was also a part of the joint vocational program for carpentry. He joined the Navy in 1976 where he was a builder and also did contract work for the Naval Supply Corps. In 2006 after 30 years of dedicated service, he retired as a Master Chief Builder with the U.S. Navy Seabees. During his 30-year career in the Navy he earned numerous medals and achievements. He truly loved life and his permanent smile and unmistakable chuckle showed that. He was a great son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, peer and mentor. He will be remembered by everyone for many different reasons but most of all being the best of the best at everything he did.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest R. Oesterle and Lois M (Stewart) Oesterle, and his stepmother, Carolyn A (Rigel) Oesterle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years. Brenda Blackmon Oesterle; two sons, Douglas Paul Oesterle Jr (DJ) and Darrin (Rebecca) Lee Oesterle; siblings, Cynthia S. (Oesterle) Frey, Robert K. Oesterle, Steve K. Rigel, Tim L. Rigel and Lynette M. (Rigel) Amato, and grandchildren, Darrin Lee Oesterle Jr, Charlie Nathaniel Oesterle, and Peter T. Rodriguez

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services located at 6631 Washington Ave, Ocean Springs, MS, 39564. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10 A.M.at Biloxi National Cemetery all under the direction of Southern Mississippi Funeral Services.
