Thomas J. Bourke Sr., 83, of Herminie, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Greene Health & Rehab, Greensburg, surrounded by his family. He was born May 13, 1942, in Greensburg, a son of the late Thomas P. and Veronica (Bohinc) Bourke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Bourke-Schrum; and sister-in-law, Susan Bourke. He was a graduate of Sewickley Township High School and then attended Carnegie Technical Institute (Carnegie Mellon University). Tom was a proud U.S. Navy Seabee (MCB 53) veteran stationed in Da Nang while having served during Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he was an electrical engineer, having worked for Westinghouse Transportation for more than 30 years. He also had worked as a financial advisor for Raymond James (Wolf Financial) in Apollo. He was a loyal member of St. Edward Church. Tom was an avid golfer and a faithful black-and-gold Steelers season ticket holder. He also enjoyed traveling across the pond back to Ireland to visit family and friends. But most of all he will be remembered for his punny jokes and special times he spent with his family and friends. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan (Trimmer) Bourke; two sons, Thomas J. (Yvonne) Bourke Jr. of Bridgeville and Greg Bourke and partner Melissa Genareo of New Castle; two daughters, Mary Ruderstaller of Arizona and Maureen Bourke of Level Green; daughter-in-law, Rose Bourke, of Whitaker; four special grandchildren, Emily, Steven, Nichole, and Gregory; a brother, Michael Bourke of Erie; brother-in-law, Steve Schrum of Latrobe; beloved cousin in Ireland, Maureen O’Donnell, and many other special Irish family members; and dearly beloved neighbors, the Pany family; in addition to many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Tom will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to thank the staff at Greene Health & Rehab for all their love and compassionate care given to Tom. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2026, at JOSEPH W. NICKEKLS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637.
