Final Salute

Barney L. Martin, 70, of Huntsville, OH passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Room.

Barney was born on August 2, 1949 in Lima, OH, a son of the late Everett L. and Cecilia I. Davidson Martin.

He married Sheila Ray Tracey in 1973 and she preceded him in death in 1981. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marsha Scott.

Barney married the former Barbara Collins in 2005 and she survives. He is also survived by four children, Shawn (Angel) Martin of Belle Center, OH, Travis (Christina) Martin of Orlando, FL, Regina Holbrook of Huntsville, and Britteney (Mark) Stewart of Lakeview, OH, seven grandchildren, Kyla Martin, Reece Martin, Diem Martin, Ryder Holbrook, Hunter Stewart, Gabe Stewart, and Scarlett Martin, his brother, Pepper Martin, and several nieces and nephews.

Barney was a 1968 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He was a veteran Seabee of the United States Navy serving in Vietnam. Barney worked as a general contractor and swung a hammer for most of his life. He enjoyed smoking meats, cooking and grilling, building projects, and woodworking.

Reverend Bryan Meadows will begin memorial services at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 12-2 pm. Interment will be in Huntsville Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Navy and Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barney’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project.
