Charles Robert Lanham Sr., 87, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021.
Born March 17, 1934, in Cumberland, Mr. Lanham was the son of the late Paul and Lillian Lanham. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lanham; a sister, Helen Boyer; daughter, Jeanie Walters; a son-in-law, Alan Walters; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1952, Charles was drafted during the Korean War and spent two years in Korea in the United States Army. He was a member of the Naval Reserves Seabee’s Unit, and also a member of the Potomac Lodge 100 A.F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 245, and the Good Fellowship Club.
Charles retired from PPG Industries with 30 years of service. Then he worked for the City of Cumberland Waste Water Treatment Plant for several years. After his retirement, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, the outdoors, and had a kind heart toward animals.
Charles was a member of Freedom Christian Church.
Charles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rena Lanham; his son, Charles R. Lanham Jr. and wife, Wendy, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and his granddaughter, Tara K. Streeter and husband, Ryan, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be private.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Church, 936 Winifred Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
