Lancaster – Clarence L. Coffman, 89, of Lancaster, Ohio went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2022. A 1951 graduate of New Lexington high school, he joined the U.S Navy to serve in the construction battalion as a Navy Seabee, where he was stationed in various locations including California, N. Africa and Bermuda. He also served as a deacon at the Fairfield Christian church. He worked as a union brick mason and general contractor for over 50 years and anyone he worked with would tell you what an honest, trustworthy, and hard-working man he was. He was also a major aviation enthusiast and after retirement he earned his pilot’s license at the age of 70 and was a proud owner of a single engine Cessna. Among his other passions were travel and motorcycle riding, including several cross-country trips. He married his lifelong sweetheart, Margaret Stewart on December 15th, 1953 and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Helen, beloved sister, Betty, and his brother, Larry. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Ann (Stewart), children, Jeff (Sandie), Brenda, Randy (Traci), grandchildren, Kyle Coffman (Meredith), Trevor Coffman, Shelby Eveland, McKenna Coffman and 2 great-grandchildren, Callum and Paisley. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Tadder. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 1st from 2-4 and 6-8 at Halteman-Fett & Dyer, 436 N. Broad St. Lancaster, Ohio. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Maple Grove cemetery.
