Final Salute

David Rashan, 74, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, David was a graduate of Warren Harding High School and served as a U.S. Navy Seabee in Gulfport, Mississippi.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Discepolo Rashan and Joseph Rashan, Sr., and his brother, Joseph Rashan, Jr.
On Sept. 21st, 2026, four days before he died, David and his wife, Tara Rashan (née Mehegan), celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Their marriage was preceded by a six year engagement while Tara earned her Bachelor’s degree. (The university informed her marrying would cancel her scholarships and grants.) David is also survived by his sisters, Mary Rashan O’Toole and Diane Rashan; his brother, Stephen Rashan and his wife, Eileen Fahey Rashan; his sister-in-law, Carmela Venti Rashan; his brothers-in-law, Sean Mehegan and Eben Mehegan and Eben’s wife, Rebecca; his best friend, Michael Merola, and his daughter, Jennifer Merola Dale; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave had a talent for putting people at ease. His sense of humor and piercing insight were a source of delight to all. He is cherished for the laughter and wisdom he brought to every gathering. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
Dave and Tara traveled the US in a camper van for nineteen years, making friends and memories everywhere, but no place more than Coastal Mississippi, where they finally landed, in 2020.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the VA, friends, and the Biloxi community for their support during his illness. Special thanks to the Biloxi Group; y’all know who you are!
