Final Salute

Denzil Ware Galloway, affectionately known as “Woody,” passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Cameron, NC on October 3, 2025, with his wife of eight years, Brenda Spivey Galloway, by his side.

He was born on October 11, 1973, to Sidney and Gloria Galloway, originally of West Virginia, who now resides in Cameron, NC to be near their son.

Woody was preceded in death by his great-uncle Denzil of West Virginia and his son, Cody Galloway of Wilson, NC.

He is survived by his son, Chasen Galloway of Wilson, NC; stepchildren Chris Spivey and daughter-in-law Tracey Woodson, and Elizabeth Williams Villacarlos of Cary, NC. He also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Makayla, Jaxon, Jasmine, Lily, and Violet.

Woody held a deep love for all his extended Spivey family members, especially his mother-in-law, Nancy Spivey, whom he lovingly called “My Mama Nancy.”

A special place in his heart was reserved for one of his best friends, Mike Kawolski of Sanford, who never failed to stop what he was doing to help when called upon.

Woody was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy’s Seabees Construction Battalion, where his passion for construction began at the age of 17.

For the past 13 years, he was employed as a Pipe Superintendent with Southern Industrial Constructors in Raleigh, NC. He loved his job and the challenges it brought, often sharing stories about his work with anyone who would listen. He was known to say, “If I don’t take pride in my job and do a great job, it makes Southern look bad – and I won’t stand for that.” He deeply valued his SIC family.

Woody was known for his big heart, tireless work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need -whether it meant jumping on his tractor to dig or move something. He never met a stranger, and if you ever met him, you never forgot him.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the surrounding community.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Life Springs Church, located at 3215 Keller Andrews Rd, Sanford, NC 27330.

In accordance with Woody’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be buried on his beloved farm, The Moon Light Ranch, at a later date.
