Gary Clyde Thrailkill

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Gary Clyde Thrailkill died following a heart attack. Gary was born on April 23, 1955 in Burlington, Vermont to Brant and Georgianna (Skaer) Thrailkill.

As a veteran Navy Seabee, Gary embodied their “can do” motto. He graduated from the Arizona Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and retired from Verizon after a career as a cable splicer.

Gary was a member of the Virginia Chapter of the Tradesman MC for the past 10 years. Lovingly known as ZZ or Big Pa, he was often working the grill at Tradesmen and ABATE events or managing Bingo at the American Legion Post 330.

Gary had a big spirit and was quick to lend a hand. He regularly volunteered with veterans at the Legion, driving them to appointments and helping with Culpeper Wreathes Across America. He was an avid hunter, loved working on cars, and enjoyed competition darts.

Gary is survived by his partner of 25 years Maryann Sowle, his half-sister Bonnie Pignataro, half-brother BD Thrailkill, 2 nephews, and 2 nieces. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Neal Thrailkill and Judy Thrailkill.

Gary, and his impressive beard, will be missed. In the Spring, family and friends will gather to celebrate Gary’s life. Ride free, ZZ.
