Final Salute

Harry Joseph Michel Jr. was born on September 6, 1938. He passed away, surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

On Monday, September 21, a visitation in Chauvin Funeral Home’s Magnolia Chapel will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The nighttime visitation will begin with a presentation of military honors by the United Veterans League. On Tuesday, September 22, family and friends are also invited to a visitation beginning at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

He was a loving father and grandfather, a cherished member of his family. Harry was a Navy Seabee Veteran who served in Argentia, Newfoundland. He spent 28 years of his career with Union Oil. Harry lived a simple life filled with the things he loved most: hunting, fishing and watching the hummingbirds migrate.

Harry is survived by his two sons, Blair Michel and Bryce Michel (Ryland); companion of 28 years, Barbara Autin; his grandchildren, Jeremy Michel (Ashley) and Caroline Olivier (Devin); his brother, Earl P. Michel; and many beloved cousins, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Michel Sr. and Jeanette Hotard Michel, and his sister, Judith Michel Melancon.

Harry was blessed to have a beautiful team of caregivers who cared for him with love, compassion and kindness. The family would like to give a special thank you to Natalie, Belinda, Connie, Hazel, Holly, Nikki, Haydel Hospice and Terrebonne Homecare for the comfort and care they provided him.

Harry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him
