Final Salute

Ira William Erickson, 75, of Plainville, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was the loving husband of LeeAnn Erickson. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Raymond O. and Rose (Moscovitz) Erickson of Riverside, Rhode Island.
Ira was a near lifelong resident of Rhode Island, residing in Riverside, Smithfield, and Warwick. Ira proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, as a Seabee attached to the Third Marine Division. Upon return from Vietnam, Ira worked at RE Sturdy and Brown & Sharpe. Ira and his brother Ray opened Erickson Brothers Bait and Tackle in Warwick, which they ran for almost 20 years. Ira then went on to work as a Correctional Officer at the ACI Maximum Security Prison in Cranston until his retirement, where he was a member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team and Correctional Officers Honor Guard.
An avid fisherman and poker player, Ira loved dogs and bred Cocker Spaniels with his late wife Patricia. Ira was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Tri City Elks.
Alongside his wife LeeAnn, he is survived by his beloved children, Daniel Erickson of Warwick and Richard Erickson of Iowa, his stepchildren, John A. Cove (Sarah) of North Attleboro, MA and Emily A. Keohane (Mark) of North Attleboro, MA. He was a cherished grampy, uncle, cousin, and friend.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 10:30AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, RI 02886. Respects may be paid at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 9:00AM-10:30AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 226 North Street, Salem, MA 01970.
