Final Salute

My beloved husband and best friend, Jack Edward Curtis, passed away on the 21st of May 2026 at the age of 77.

He was a devoted husband to me, a loving brother to his big sister Judy, a great friend to his brother-in-law Ray, and a wonderful uncle to his niece Sheena.

He was known for his generosity, strong sense of right and wrong, and a really great sense of humor. The tales he told of his infamous pet crow had me in stitches and whenever he called Judy, he would announce “This is your brother”.

He was born and raised in East Palestine, Ohio to Bud and The Etna and much preferred the rural lifestyle and sense of community a small town like East Palestine brings. He started tinkering with cars and motorcycles at an early age and even bought and worked on his first car before he was legal to drive. He was a “car guy” all his life and rode his Aprilla and drove his sports car up until the month before he passed.

Following in his father’s footsteps, he served his country as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam war and used the skills he learned while in the Seabees to benefit his local community.

His work life took him to New Mexico to work for Sandia National Labs, spending thirty-two years there as an electrical engineer. Retirement had him taking long motorcycle trips to Alaska as well as the National parks in Colorado, Arizona and Utah. He and I spent lots of weekends at the Races enjoying the competition and at the Rallies and Shows looking at new models and products.

He also leaves behind many in-laws who would have loved to have gotten to know him better now that we had moved closer and a band of cousins spread throughout the fifty states.
