Mr. James Franklin Hall

Date of passing 05/23/2026

James Franklin Hall, 84, of Crawfordville, passed away on May 23, 2026.

James was born in Doerun, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps and the Navy Seabees for over 10 years. Among many other assignments, he served two tours in Vietnam, stationed at Cheatham Annex in Virginia, McMurdo Station in Antarctica, and worked with nuclear submarines in Pearl Harbor. Throughout his life, he was known for relentless work ethic, spending many years as a large-scale row-crop farmer and swine producer in Mississippi.

James was an avid sportsman who found great joy in wildlife, hunting, and fishing–especially offshore fishing. He enjoyed reading aviation and maritime history, loved hobby woodworking, and took great pleasure growing flowers and plants. While stationed in Pearl Harbor for 4 years, he grew a deep connection with Hawaiian culture, history, music, and food. After farming in Mississippi, spending the last 36 years in Wakulla County proved to be a place he could easily reconnect with his south Georgia roots, while also nurturing his love of the water and the outdoors. Above all, James cherished his family and the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Leah Hall; his children, Barry Hall (Tracy), Ronnie Hall, Terry Lundgren (Shelia), Kenneth Lundgren (Mel), and Brenda Mayo (Victor); a sister, Martha, and a brother, Randall; along with 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and countless friends who were like family.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Lundgren, his parents, Walter and Nettie Hall, and brothers Ermon, Gene, Monroe, Bill, and Ray.

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Linda Williams, who became so much more than a caregiver. You brought such pleasure to his life in the end, and he loved you like family, as do we all.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
