MOLINE-Joseph H. Westerdale, 85, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, February 11, 2022, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory following the visitation. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to DAV.
Joseph Hugh Westerdale was born September 12, 1936, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Ralph and Mary (McHugh) Westerdale. He married Sally Tanner, and they were later divorced. He married Susan Holman on October 11, 1970, in Moline. He served in the U.S. Navy on active duty for three years, and then served in the Navy Reserves with the Seabees, retiring in 1994. He worked for Case IH for 20 years as a machinist and fork lift driver. He was a lifetime member of Seabees Veterans Association, and a member of Memorial Christian Church, Moline, VFW, Moline, Lake Davenport Sailing Club, and Mississippi Valley Country Dance Association. He enjoyed sailing, woodworking, and music – he played the piano and had been in several area bands.
Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan; six children and their spouses, Dan and Karen Westerdale of France, Debbie and Scott McPherson of Moline, Pamela Westerdale and Robert Lee of Milan, Laurie and Steven Sherman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michelle Westerdale of Moline, and James and Lauren Westerdale of Papillion, Nebraska; and 12 grandchildren, Marcie, Mannie, and Clayton McPherson, Robert, Sara and Nathan Lee; Immanuel, Avrom, and Matthew Bailey, and Allison, Hannah, and Joey Westerdale. He was preceded in death by siblings, John Westerdale and Georgeann Nelson.
