Final Salute

Richard Conner, 82, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, surrounded by family at IU Ball Memorial hospital.

He was born on August 15,1944 in Portland, IN

Richard graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1963. A Vietnam veteran, he served his country in the Navy Seabees. He was married to Linda Jo (Martin) on February 27, 1966. He worked for Indiana Gas Company from 1967 to retirement. Richard was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed supporting his grandchildren at all of their school events

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda, his three children; Mike Conner, April Conner, and Marc Conner, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother and three sisters; Betty Jean Sumwalt, Barbara Whitaker, and Sandy Ashcraft.

Services will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Fountain Square Methodist Church 4405 S. Madison St., from 11 am to 1 pm. Burial will follow in Greens Fork Cemetery, Greens Fork.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
