Robert Franklin Tillis, age 76, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at home.

He was born on January 27, 1949, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of David Franklin and Dorothy Irene (Braley) Tillis.

He was a 1967 graduate of Paint Valley High School, and served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ, he spent many years coaching little league baseball around Greenfield, was an avid OSU Football and Cincinnati Reds fan, avid woodworker, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was retired from Johnson Controls after 40 plus years of employment.

He is survived by one daughter, Cyndi (Dan) Joseph of Greenfield; one son, Bobby (Melissa) Tillis of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Mandi (Charley) Wiechert, Kevin Pepper, Noah Tillis, Kaycie Tillis, Tyler (Chelsea) Miller, Kylie Miller; seven great grandchildren, Zach Tillis, Robby Cline, Ryan Roberts, Logan Merritt, Kaylee Miller, Lincoln Pepper, Ava Miller; one brother, David Edwin Tillis of Bainbridge; two sisters, Rosanna Grooms of Bainbridge, Pamela (Jeff) Smith of Kingston; several nieces and nephews; and special dog, Rocky.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie A. “Sis” Tillis on October 28, 2017; one grandson, Todd Douglas James; and both parents.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 23 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield beginning with a Veterans Appreciation service then Dusty Barrett to officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with Military rites being provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.

Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Friday, at the funeral home.
