Warren Jerome Eitreim was a Valentine’s Day baby born to Willie and Julia Eitreim on February 14, 1926, in Rock County, Minnesota. He lived to the impressive age of 100 years old, passing away on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Warren grew up on a farm in Rock County Minnesota with his parents and seven siblings. Although farm life was filled with hard work, it was also filled with much laughter, teasing, and singing. He attended Beaver Creek High School, where he played several sports and excelled at football.

Upon graduating high school, Warren was drafted into the United States Navy Seabees division, where he built air strips on the Philippine Islands. After an honorable discharge, he returned home to work with his dad, uncles, and brothers on the family farm. When all four of his sisters thought he would never marry, his sister Dorothy set him up on a blind date with Bonnie Buchheim. It was love at first sight. After a short courtship, the couple married on August 5, 1956, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Warren and Bonnie made their home on Bonnie’s childhood farm north of Parker, South Dakota, proudly and skillfully farming and raising livestock. Together they welcomed their only child, a daughter named Cynthia.

Warren loved being active in his community, including service on the Spring Valley School Board and at Grace Lutheran Church. As a member of the church, Warren sang in the choir, served on the church council, and led as President of the congregation. He always lent a helping hand wherever he was needed. Warren loved the Turner County Fair, washing endless dishes at the Grace Lutheran Church food stand, helping give out cards at bingo, and taking breaks to ride many Carnival rides with the “younger kids from church.” He was truly a kid at heart.

Additionally, Warren sang in the Norse Glee Club and with various family members in the Eitreim/Edmundson chorus. He stayed busy singing at many family and church events at Palisade Lutheran Church in rural Garretson, South Dakota. Warren’s Norwegian heritage was very important to him. He was a proud member of the Sons of Norway, served on the Nordic Hall Board for more than 25 years, and co-chaired the committee honoring the Crown Prince Haaken’s visit to South Dakota in 1999.

Warren was a dedicated grandfather to his grandson, Andrew Ahrendt, and never missed a sporting event. He was an avid fan of Andy and his friends’ baseball teams. Warren cheered them on through elementary school, high school, college, and amateur league careers.

He will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, generous spirit, and charismatic personality. He was quick with a joke, wink, or smile.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie, parents Willie and Julia, siblings Irid Eitreim, Bernice Miller, Dorothy Oien, Shirley Knowlton, Donald Eitreim, and Mildred Larson. He is survived by his brother Milton Eitreim, daughter Cynthia (John) Ahrendt-Sivesind, grandson Andrew Ahrendt, step grandson John (Brandy) Sivesind and their children Nolan, Cooper, and Crosby, as well as his step-granddaughter Holly Sivesind, Dean Borchers and their children Vance, Seth, Aaron and Riley as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
