Ted Milton Willis Jr., of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 79 years old.

Born on November 1, 1946 to Ted M. Willis, Sr. and Louisa M. (Seever) Willis, he lived a life centered on family and caring for others. Known for his generous heart, welcoming spirit and unwavering love for others, Ted made everyone around him feel valued and cared for.

Ted graduated from Benton High School in 1965 and later attended Missouri Western State University. He proudly served in the United States Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that remained a source of pride. He went on to build a career with American Family Insurance, serving his clients and community with the same kindness and steady character that defined him.

On October 15, 1966, Ted married Marilyn (Roesle) Willis. They shared nearly 6 decades of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and open doors for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children Melissa Knetzer (Darren), Amy Michalski (Todd) and Sean Willis (Shana); grandchildren Daryl Shamel (Brock), Madison Michalski, Sydney Fryer (Brandon), Molly Bahr (Jacob), Ben Willis and Anna Willis; great-grandchildren Ellie Shamel, Brooks Shamel and Emersyn Bahr. He is also survived by his mother Louisa Willis; siblings George Willis, Susan Solberg (Tom) and David Willis (Roxanne)

He is preceded in death by his father, Ted Willis Sr., infant brother Gary Willis and sister Deborah Sumter.

Ted’s legacy is one of service, compassion and love. Whether caring for his family, serving his country or volunteering at Mosaic Life Care, he found joy in helping others and making a difference in their lives.

Memorial Mass 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 20, St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Inurnment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish Rosary 5:30 P.M. Friday, June 19, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 19, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
