Final Salute

Gregory “Greg” Gervy, 60, of Polo, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Greg was born on October 21, 1964, in Independence, the son of Lawrence “Ed” and Dorothy (Curts) Gervy, Jr.  He was united in marriage to Susan (Vereecke) Gervy on January 29, 1983; she survives of the home.

Greg was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Fort Osage High School in the class of 1983. After high school, he dedicated 20 years of service to his country in the United States Navy. Following his military career, Greg worked for Hallmark Cards as a holster driver for an impressive 37 years.

Greg had a passion for life and a knack for staying busy. He was an avid sprint car dirt track racing fan and cherished the thrill of the sport. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, he loved hunting and spending time in nature. Greg also enjoyed tinkering in his shop, always finding ways to fix or create something with his hands.

Above all, Greg’s greatest pride was his family. He deeply loved his children and grandchildren, always making time to be there for them whenever they needed him. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Additional survivors include: two daughters, Casie (Aaron) Johnson and Megan (Robert) Wilson; son, Michael Gervy; seven grandchildren: Willow, Piper, Kason, and Jack Johnson, Cali, Ava, and Sami Wilson; and brother, Larry (Nancy) Gervy.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Gervy, siblings, Kenneth Gervy, Dennis Gervy, and Pamela (Gervy) Reeder.
