Manages, coordinates, and supervises all aspects of the hospital Engineering Department.
Manages the Engineering Department Maintenance, Construction and PersonnelEnsures that staffing and productivity are optimized to meet the needs of the workload
Monitor and control operating costs per square foot to increase at a rate lower than the inflation rate
Prioritizes routine and emergency work requests in the most effective manner
Maintains current blueprints and manuals for all equipment/buildings maintained by the Engineering Department
Performs the duties of the Hospital Fire Marshall
Maintains documents for Safety Committee and JCAHO reviews
Identifies and provides staff training needs through efficient performance appraisal procedures
Performs interviewing and personnel selection procedures for the department
Ensures the department operates in a cost-effective and efficient mannerPerforms and controls the daily operational duties of the department
Manages and analyzes the department budget and hospital utility cost ensuring cost-effectiveness
Ensures that CAD drawings are accessible, usable, and integrated for the management and maintenance of grounds, buildings, and building systems
Acts as Owner's Representative for contracted construction projects, vendors and Architectural / Engineering firms
Oversees purchasing and bids for the department
Maintain, manages and operates the hospital buildings, physical plant and groundsResponsible for maintenance and upkeep of all engineering equipment
Tracks all building and equipment repairs
Coordinates and ensures code compliance with all buildings and property owned by the hospital
Provides tools, training, and technical assistance to engineering technicians assigned to maintenance and construction projects
Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisfactionProvides assistance to team members as requested or required
Participates on committees/councils and performance improvement activities as requested/required
Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements

Education:
Required; Associate's degree or equivalent
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
Licensure or Certification:
Required Licensure: Valid Driver License (for operation of hospital vehicle and coverage eligibility for hospital's automobile insurance)
Experience:
Required: Five years of supervisory experience in facilities management, engineering operations, construction supervision, or related field
Preferred: Experience in a healthcare or hospital environment
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Knowledge of building maintenance, maintenance management, and AutoCAD concepts or applications. Knowledge of Life Safety Code, building codes, and Federal & State regulations, efficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
JCAHO facilities and safety requirements, Building Information Modeling (BJM), Rivet, Plant Operations and Building Automation Systems (Mestasys)
Physical Demands:
Able to speak and hear for effective communication. Moderate walking, stooping, bending, and climbing are required to inspect buildings and projects. Visual acuity and manual dexterity are necessary to work with measuring tools, schematics, blueprints, and codes.
Protective Equipment: Standard precautions including ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses, & hard hat
