Description

JOB SUMMARY

As a Diesel Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine diesel generators used in various marine applications. You will work closely with a team of technicians and engineers to ensure the reliable operation and performance of these generators. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the smooth functioning of electrical power systems on marine vessels.

 

Installation and Commissioning:

Install marine diesel generators in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and specifications.
Conduct generator commissioning activities.
Preventive Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance and conduct scheduled inspections on marine diesel generators
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities
Emergency Response:

Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively
Maintain a thorough understanding of emergency shutdown procedures and safety protocols.
Diagnostic and Repair:

Troubleshoot generator malfunctions
Identify faulty components and perform repairs or replacements as necessary
Test generator functionality after repairs
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of generator maintenance, repairs, and service history.
Generate reports on generator performance, issues, and recommended corrective actions.
Provide clear and concise communication to clients and management regarding repair status, timelines, and any potential concerns.
Training and Support:

Collaborate with colleagues and participate in knowledge sharing activities to enhance overall team performance.

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Technical, vocational training in diesel mechanics, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Military background in diesel generators is highly preferred​
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks in various working conditions.
Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to follow proper procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Factory training preferred: Kohler, Northern Lights, Volvo, Onan
