Description

About the Role

RCI Builders is hiring a Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial and multifamily projects across Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties. You’ll be the field leader on your project. You own the schedule, safety, quality, and daily execution of the work, and you partner with the Project Manager to deliver for our clients. If you’ve led crews, kept a build on schedule, and held a jobsite to a high standard of safety and quality, including as a Seabee, we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the field. Own the means, methods, sequencing, daily execution, safety, quality, and cleanliness of the work on your project. Oversee subcontractors, foremen, and crews that can range from 25 to 100 people depending on the job.
  • Own the schedule. Build and baseline a complete, logic-driven CPM schedule with our trade partners and check it against real production rates. Update it weekly, issue three-week look-aheads, and write and carry out a recovery plan if the job slips.
  • Plan before you build. Lead constructability reviews with key subcontractors. Review and sign off on each subcontractor’s scope before contracts go out. Develop a customer service plan built around the client’s expectations.
  • Own quality. Develop the project’s QA/QC plan with our QA/QC manager, attend first-install meetings for every major scope, and walk the job daily for quality.
  • Keep the site safe. Walk the site for safety every day and run a weekly all-hands safety meeting.
  • Run the day. Hold the daily foreman huddle and the weekly coordination and staff meetings. Keep daily reports, man-counts, and labor hours accurate and on time.
  • Protect the project. Document delays as they happen. Take part in monthly cost reviews and change order validation. Have a punch list plan in place by the 50% completion point.
  • Develop people. Mentor the project engineers and field staff who work with you.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary with year-end bonuses for high performers
  • Company truck and gas card
  • Medical benefits, plus voluntary dental and vision
  • 401(k) profit sharing plan
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
  • A family-owned company where your work gets noticed and your growth is planned

Requirements

  • 7+ years of construction field experience, including supervisory roles, on commercial, tenant improvement, multifamily, or retail projects. Military construction experience counts.
  • Technical knowledge across building components and systems
  • Experience building and managing logic-driven (CPM) construction schedules
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • A record of safety and quality leadership on the jobsite
  • Experience with construction scheduling and project management software (we use OutBuild and Autodesk Construction Cloud)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
